Azalea, the flower that lives in winter

Azalea is a plant originally from China and Japan that today can be found forming living fences, composing masses in gardens, brightening corridors and entrances.

One of the secrets of its success is that flowering occurs precisely in the winter months. It is when most plants “rest” that azaleas reach their greatest beauty.

Another secret is that the azalea is a rustic and resistant plant, withstanding adverse conditions.

Azaleas do not thrive indoors and need full sunlight to grow well. They should be grown in soil composed of garden soil and vegetable soil, with regular watering.

If you intend to keep it indoors, leave the plants outside until the flowers open. Only then can you take them inside. It is very important that they are in a clear place and close to the window.

Cultivation can be done in partial shade as long as the plant receives sunlight at least 4 hours a day. Avoid excess water in watering, the ideal is to provide water to the plant only when the soil is dry, without soaking.

After flowering, pruning is a good measure to stimulate the emergence of new shoots. Take the opportunity to clean the plant well, removing the withered flowers and yellow leaves.

Azaleas mean the joy of loving and perseverance. Some more restricted meanings depend on the color of your flowers: pink azalea means love of nature, white azalea, romance and red azalea means that you love the person for a long time.
